Deep Tissue Massage

Known to treat chronic aches and pains and relax contracted areas, the deep tissue massage focuses on areas including the neck, upper and lower back, and shoulders.

When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, bands of rigid and painful tissue form in the muscles, tendons and ligaments known as adhesions. Adhesions can often block circulation, causing pain, limited movement and inflammation. This therapeutic technique physically breaks down adhesions to relieve and restore normal movement with the use of massage oil and direct deep pressure. Muscles need to be relaxed in order for the therapist to reach deeper musculature.

At some points during the massage session, a client may feel some discomfort. It is important to openly communicate with the client to identify any soreness or pain that is outside their comfort range.

A deep tissue massage can be used to treat chronic pain in the lower back, limited mobility, recovering injuries, postural problems, muscle tension, sciatica, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, or muscle soreness due to an intense workout.
